Muş lies on a broad plain crossed by the Murat River in Eastern Anatolia. The Muş tulip that blooms in spring is the province's symbol.
Malazgirt (Manzikert) is where the Seljuk army defeated Byzantium in 1071, a battle that opened the gates of Anatolia.
