About Muğla

In antiquity Muğla was where the regions of Caria and Lycia met. Bodrum's ancient name was Halicarnassus, and its Mausoleum was counted among the Seven Wonders of the World.

The province's coastline traces an indented line between the Aegean and the Mediterranean; Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye and Datça are its best-known places. The provincial capital is a quiet inland town of old Muğla houses.

In 2025, about 3.5 million (3,492,746) foreign visitors entered Türkiye through Muğla.
