About Mardin
Mardin is a stone city built in terraces on a slope overlooking the Mesopotamian plain. It is known for its carved stone houses and narrow lanes.
The Deyrulzafaran and Mor Gabriel monasteries are important centres of Syriac culture. The Kasımiye Madrasa and the stone mansions of Midyat are also worth seeing.
