About Hatay
Hatay lies at the eastern end of the Mediterranean, on the Syrian border. Antakya, ancient Antioch, was one of the largest cities of the Roman world.
The Hatay Archaeology Museum holds one of the world's richest mosaic collections. Historic buildings in the city, badly damaged in the 2023 earthquakes, are being rebuilt. Its cuisine, famous for künefe, is recognised by UNESCO.
