About Edirne
Edirne, near the Greek and Bulgarian borders, is Türkiye's gateway to Europe. From 1363 until the conquest of Istanbul it was the Ottoman capital.
The Selimiye Mosque and its complex, which Mimar Sinan considered his masterpiece, are on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The Kırkpınar oil-wrestling festival is held here every summer.
