About Balıkesir
Balıkesir has coastlines on both the Sea of Marmara and the Aegean. The olive groves of the Gulf of Edremit and the villages at the foot of the Kaz Mountains are among its best-known places.
The stone houses of Ayvalık and Cunda Island, and the Marmara islands of Erdek and Avşa, are popular in summer. The province is also known for olive oil and höşmerim dessert.
