About Astana
Astana lies on the Ishim River. It replaced Almaty as the capital in 1997 and was quickly reshaped with modern buildings.
The Bayterek Tower, the tent-shaped Khan Shatyr centre and the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation are its symbols.
